Long Beach Unified School District is the third largest school district in California, and since implementing the energy management program in 2003, has become a shining example of energy conservation in the state. The district has reduced energy consumption on average over 28% with savings exceeding $29 million. In 2011, nearly 90 of the district’s buildings received ENERGY STAR Building Certificate recognition, representing 30 percent of ENERGY STAR certified school buildings in the state.

In 2009 Manteca Unified School District implemented its energy conservation program to broaden its scope in energy reduction. The district realized Cenergistic brought expertise in three crucial areas for sustainable energy conservation: behavior modification, systems management and utility rate analysis. These areas provided the greatest opportunity to systematically make changes in energy consumption without the need for a major capital outlay. Implementing the Cenergistic program delivered a 38% reduction in consumption and over $11 million savings in 66 months.

Dr. Lewis has served Riverside USD for 36 years in a variety of roles. He earned his Doctorate of Education, Institutional Management from Pepperdine University. He also serves on the board of directors of the Riverside Downtown Partnership.

This provides a positive image of the district — now a recognized leader in energy conservation in California.

Mr. Melvin Jordan
Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services

Mr. Jordan has been with the school district since 1990. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing Human Resources and Operational Services. Community involvement is also important to Mr. Jordan, as he serves as a Board Member for the City of Vallejo Oversight Board for the Successor Agency to the Vallejo Redevelopment Agency, is past President of the Vallejo Executive Lyons Club, Chair of the Solano Transportation Authority, Chair of the Solano Community College District Citizens Bond Oversight Committee and is involved with the Solano County Chapter of Kappa Omicron Lambda Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

A graduate of the University of California, Davis; Mr. Jordan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Design.

California - Whittier Union High School District

Whittier Union High School District is an ENERGY STAR Top Performer, placing the district in the top 25% of the most efficient in the nation.

The district has also earned ENERGY STAR 20 Percent Leader for reducing its energy consumption by more than 20 percent.

WUHSD participates in Southern California Edison’s Summer Discount Program, and earns more than $55,000 per year in rebates for its ability to quickly curb energy use during periods of high demand.

Dr. Bill Jordan
Manager of Facilities & Planning

Dr. Bill Jordan is the Facility and Planning Manager for the Whittier Union High School District. He has held this position for over fourteen years and is responsible for maintenance and operations for the entire district which consists of six campuses plus the district administrative and maintenance offices.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University which he attended on a football scholarship, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from LaSalle University.

Cenergistic’s engineers and experts are helping to optimize the district’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide comfort and efficiency. Working with the Energy Specialists, they are analyzing interval data and identifying opportunities for savings.

Kent's two Energy Specialists work closely with maintenance and operations personnel to ensure strategic operation while encouraging cooperation from faculty and staff members.

Dr. Richard Stedry
Chief Business Officer

Dr. Richard Stedry joined Kent School District in 2010. He has 37 years of school business management experience and a total of 42 years of experience in public education. Dr. Stedry has held school business positions in California, Texas, South Carolina and Ohio, and as superintendent in Kansas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Master’s Degrees in Education and Educational Specialist from Wichita State University and a Doctorate in Education from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Stedry taught school finance, school business management and school facilities at the University of South Carolina and Oklahoma State University. He serves as a trainer for school board members in the areas of school finance and school facilities. In addition, Dr. Stedry serves as a consultant to school districts regarding school business operations, facility planning and negotiations. Dr. Stedry is a recognized expert in the area of school finance and has implemented a Cenergistic energy management program in four school districts in South Carolina and California.
