Mississippi - Mississippi College

Mississippi College

Although Mississippi College is in the early stages of their energy program, it is off to a great start thanks in part to strong support from leadership and staff.  The college has already achieved ENERGY STAR Partner status.

Dr. Steve Stanford
Vice President for Administration and Government Affairs

Dr. Steve Stanford serves as Vice President for Administration and Government Relations at Mississippi College. At Mississippi College, he is also an adjunct professor and coordinates the graduate program in Higher Education Administration. Dr. Stanford earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Delta State University, where he was inducted into the DSU Hall of Fame. He earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University.

The vice president for administration and government relations oversees and directs space planning, capital renovation, improvements and development, leasing, construction, facilities management and risk management for the university. The vice president serves as the university administrator over all contracted auxiliary services.

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is the flagship seminary for the Southern Baptist Convention. The Seminary’s four schools offer undergraduate, graduate, professional doctoral and research doctoral programs.

Kentucky - Warren County Schools

Warren County Schools
Bowling Green, KY

At Warren County Schools, savings from their energy program are equivalent to more than 147 teaching positions funded for a year. They have 19 ENERGY STAR buildings, many for multiple years, totaling 49 recognitions. They are home to the nation’s first Net Zero School, Richardsville Elementary. Warren County Schools also won the 2009 Andromeda Award from the Alliance to Save Energy.

Mississippi - Hinds Community College - Energy Specialist 1

Hinds Community College won the 2011 Innovation Award NACUBO (National Association of College and University Business Officers) — the only community college to receive an Innovation Award that year and the only higher education institution to receive an award for an energy program.

Energy Specialist

Mindy Stevens serves as Energy Specialist for Hinds Community College. She has been on Hinds Community College’s staff for 15 years, serving in other positions including Textbook Manager.

Mr. Jason Pope
Energy Specialist

Jason Pope has worked for Hinds Community College for seven years, serving in economic development and as a business administration instructor before taking on the role of Energy Specialist.

Mr. Pope earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College. He is actively pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Jackson State University.

Mississippi - Jones County Junior College

Jones County Junior College
Ellisville, MS

Jones County Junior College began serving students in 1927 and, despite its name, serves eight counties in southeastern Mississippi. JCJC awards Associate in Arts degrees, Associate in Applied Science degrees and Vocational Certificates. The college has 360 acres including education and support buildings, playing fields and the president’s home.

Mississippi - Meridian Community College

Meridian Community College
Meridian, MS

Meridian Community College was founded in 1937 as an initiative of the local school system, and is the only one of Mississippi’s community colleges to originate in that manner. The college operated on the Meridian High School campus until 1965 and established its own district and Board of Trustees in 1980.

MCC offers Associate in Arts and Associate of Applied Science Degrees, occupational certificate programs, customized workforce training and continuing education courses.

Mr. Pete Willis
Energy Specialist

Mr. Walter  “Pete”  Willis has been with Meridian Community College since 2007 as Property Control Specialist and now also serves as Energy Specialist.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Biology from North Carolina State University. Mr. Willis has extensive sales, marketing and publishing experience. He also worked as a research technician for the USDA assigned to the Environmental Protection Agency conducting experiments on the economic effects of air pollutants on farm crops.
