Illinois - North Shore School District 112

North Shore School District 112

For the school district to have an effective energy conservation program, they knew culture change had to start with the facilities and maintenance team. Once the team understood the energy program and its importance to the district, the process to create a culture of energy conservation across the entire district accelerated.

Mr. John Fuhrer
Director of Buildings and Grounds

Since 2009, Mr. Fuhrer has served as Director of Operations and Facilities for the school district. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Superintendent’s Citizen Finance and Facility Advisory Committee.

Outside the district, Mr. Fuhrer is active in a variety of organizations including: Chair for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) Regional Group of the Lake County School Facility Managers, Vice-Chair of the Operations and Maintenance Professional Development Committee through IASBO and a planning committee member for the Midwest Facilities Master Conference.

Mr. Fuhrer earned his Bachelor’s degree in Management and Communications from Concordia University, a Master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University and an Associate degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Gateway Technical College.

Michigan - Kalamazoo Valley Community College

A key to the success at Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) has been developing a solid partnership with Cenergistic. Working as a “true team” together to identify energy savings opportunities, KVCC leaders began seeing results very quickly as they reviewed initial utility bills.

Mr. Daniel Maley, CPMM
Director of Facilities and Construction Management

Mr. Maley has been with Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) for more than four years. Previously he spent 27 years with the United States Postal Service in facilities and maintenance. He is currently Co-chair of the KVCC Sustainable Moves Committee and also serves as board member at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.

 

Mr. Maley is studying at Michigan State University and has completed course work at Purdue University Krannert School of Business, KVCC, Lansing Community College and Oakland Community College.

Mr. Brian Chase
Energy Specialist

Mr. Brian Chase leads a program that has sustained significant savings for nine years and earned the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award in 2009.

Mr. Chase has served Whitefish Bay School District since 2003. He has earned his Associate's Degree in Supervisory Management as well as several management certificates from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Mr. Chase has extensive building and facility training in a variety of fields and earned a Certified Pool Operator's license and a Low Pressure Boiler Operator certificate.
